New RioCom Performing “Better Than Ever Imagined”

In light of new environmental regulations and the need to streamline operations, the popularity of “single resolution vehicles” is growing across the industry as drainage contractors and utility companies seek emissions compliant and efficient solutions. For London Drainage Facilities, the recent acquisition of a 7.5t RioCom jetvac unit meets these requirements.

Established in 2006, London Drainage Facilities has become one of the region’s leading providers of planned and emergency drainage services. The firm has grown substantially over recent years and operates a fleet of 40+ vehicles with the capacity to deploy drainage teams to any type of emergency across the capital and surrounding counties 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Operations Director, Danny Fuller, explains the decision to add the RioCom to the fleet was based on several factors: “We chose Rioned due to their reputation to provide reliable equipment. It was also due to their ability to build and deliver a lorry within a small time frame.”

He says environmental factors were also a “big driver”: “We needed a solution to decant, remove and transport fluid. The 7.5t RioCom really helps us to achieve a safe, fast and cost-effective solution to moving waste around.”

The new mini tanker has so far proved a great addition to the fleet: “The unit has worked every day since delivery,” says Danny. “It’s been pushed to its limits and so far it’s performed better than we’d ever imaged!”

“It will mostly be assigned to supporting major service cleans of 225mm pipework and upwards throughout London and the South East. It’s a great lorry to service long lengths of Aco drainage and estate gullies.”

The 7.5t RioCom was developed as an Ultra-low Emission Zones (ULEZ) compliant solution that is ideal for work in inner cities and areas with restricted space. The PTO drive converts power from the turbocharged, direct-injection engine to operate the jetting and vacuum pumps. The unit offers pump performance similar to much larger tankers utilising a Jurop PNR82 pump with a suction capacity of 1800 GPM and a high-pressure pump with a capacity of 2200 psi @ 22 GPM.

Standard features such as secure roller-shutter storage space and an electrical inverter allow space to carry and power additional equipment such as CCTV survey cameras.

Since it’s launch in 2019, we’ve received fantastic feedback about the RioCom from our UK customers with over 30 machines now operating across the nation. Last month we announced plans to roll out the RioCom across Europe and we’re excited to introduce this cutting-edge machine to our wider customer base.
