For new users like James French, a drainage engineer at Primech Building Services, the CityJet’s performance and intuitive controls stand out. Having used many jetters throughout his career, he describes the CityJet as “a different level.”

“I’ve never found drainage work so easy or a jetter so simple to operate,” he explains. “It eats through grease and mud blockages in no time, even at half the maximum PSI. The remote control means we don’t need two men on the job, and the digital display gives me instant feedback on PSI and water levels while working.”

Built in the Netherlands to exacting standards, the CityJet is renowned for its durability. Many machines remain in daily use after more than a decade in service. James Taylor, Operations Manager at Draintech, says the CityJet’s reliability underpins their fleet’s performance.

“At Draintech, we've built up a fleet of CityJets over the years,” he explains. “The reason we've continued to use these jetters is purely down to the efficiency and the quality of what they can produce.”

“We have a large client base and need to respond quickly while maintaining high standards. We know our engineers can rely on the CityJet to deliver, and running single-person drainage vans helps us maximise efficiency.”

Over the past 20 years, the CityJet has set the standard for innovation in the drainage industry, introducing advanced features and technologies that enhance performance and efficiency. These include MaxFlow hoses that minimise pressure loss, 180-degree pivoting hose reels for greater flexibility, and the intuitive eControl machine management system. 

In 2020, Rioned became the first company to launch Stage V emission-compliant jetters, leading the way in cleaner, greener technology. Tommy Ward, Managing Director at TW Drainage, highlights how the equipment aligns with the company’s drive for cleaner, greener operations.

“We’ve invested heavily to ensure our fleet meets Stage V emissions standards. Rioned has supported us at every step - from equipment selection to after-sales service.”

The CityJet’s versatility also makes it a preferred choice beyond drainage. In the fast-growing telecoms sector, the jetter plays a vital role in desilting ducts for fibre optic cable installation. Jack Brooks, a Desilting Engineer with D&A Commercial Cleaning, a company specialising in telecoms work, says: “The CityJet has transformed how we work. We desilt anything from 50 to 200 metres daily. Often in short city sections where jetting is far more cost-effective than excavation.”

The 3000psi @ 16gpm CityJet used by Jack has been upgraded with the Riopulse pulsator system, which vibrates the hose to reduce drag and improve feeding and retrieval. Paired with a specialist nozzle, this setup lets the hose reach further and move faster through ducts - ideal for desilting work. As Jack notes: “The max distance we've achieved is 279 metres on a single jet!”

Compact, lightweight, and designed with the contractor in mind, the CityJet integrates seamlessly into standard commercial vans like the Ford Transit or Mercedes Vito, while leaving ample space for tools and additional equipment. Its advanced features help teams work faster, safer, and with greater precision.
