MaxCom Powers Growth for a Belgian Drainage Contractor

MaxCom Case Study Header

The Rioned MaxCom was developed to enable contractors to take on bigger jobs in busy urban locations, whilst working more efficiently with a single-resolution jetting and suction tanker. For Antwerp-based drainage firm Verhulst Rioleringswerken, the recent investment in an 18-tonne MaxCom jetvac tanker has marked a step change in their ability to take on larger, more demanding drainage work in-house.

Verhulst Rioleringswerken was established by Jeffrey Verhulst and has been operating in northern Belgium for approximately six years. The firm’s early investment in Rioned equipment supported its rapid growth. A van-mounted AquaJet provided reliable jetting capability, while a compact vacuum trailer expanded the range of available services. Together, this setup was well-suited to reactive work and routine maintenance.

As the business expanded, the nature of the work began to change. Projects became larger and more complex, with longer pipe runs, increased diameters and higher volumes of waste to manage. The existing equipment, while effective for smaller jobs, could no longer meet the demands of this next stage.

Jeffrey explains: “We started building more work and getting larger and larger projects. That’s why I needed a bigger tanker. And Rioned helped me.”

Jeffrey approached Rioned and became the first company to commission a MaxCom, Rioned’s new 18-tonne jetvac combination unit. Mounted on a MAN TGM 18.320 chassis, it combines high-pressure jetting with high-volume suction, giving the performance needed for larger pipes and longer runs.

Jeffrey says: “This truck fits perfectly in our job. The pressure from the hoses is much bigger, so we can do bigger pipes and longer pipes and get better results. Everything about the truck is amazing.”

MaxCom-Remote

Built for sustained performance

A key advantage of the MaxCom is its ability to maintain consistent output over longer working cycles. The 8,000-litre split tank, with 7,000 litres dedicated to waste and 1,000 litres for clean water, allows operators to stay on site for extended periods without interruption.

Vacuum performance comes from the Jurop DL180 HDR air-cooled blower pump, delivering up to 17,600 litres per minute (1,056 m³/hr) of free airflow. This high airflow enables faster tank evacuation and strong handling of silt and grit, allowing more material to be removed in a single pass.

Combined with high-output jetting, this supports more demanding applications, including longer pipe runs, larger diameters and higher volumes of debris.

“We do fast emergency interventions, like antiseptic tanks, drains toilets, sinks, bathrooms,” explains Jeffrey. “Along with larger sewer pipes and gullies. Everything you can name, we can fix.”

MaxCom-onsite

Streamlined operation on site

The MaxCom is designed to simplify and accelerate day-to-day operations. Dedicated hose reels for jetting, suction and filling allow operators to switch between tasks without reconfiguration. The eControl+ system centralises machine operation, while the RioMote remote provides full control from a safe working distance, enabling precise handling even in complex or restricted environments.

With the MaxCom, Verhulst Rioleringswerken can now complete a wider range of work entirely in-house, from routine maintenance to larger commercial projects.

“Because we have more volume, we can do more customers at once,” says Jeffrey. “And also the bigger customers, such as property companies managing apartment buildings. When we first started, we had to call another company to come help us out. And now we can do it ourselves.”

This shift from a compact setup to a high-capacity jetvac solution has enabled Jeffrey and his team to take on more demanding work while maintaining efficiency and control. The future looks bright.
